Quality control for BBC's new headquarters in Salford

BBC has moved its Manchester facilities and a significant portion of currently London-based teams to Salford as part of a new Media City developed by Peel Holdings. Wilkinson Eyre Architects prepared a Stage D design, which was then taken on by local architects Chapman Taylor to develop further and implement on site. On the back of the experience at BBC Scotland, Studio Meda was asked to create a quality benchmark document for the new BBC facilities. This document informed the Stage D process and helps to ensure that the BBC's design and quality requirements are met throuhout the building process. Studiomeda now collaborates with Shropshire-based design consultancy iDEA to oversee the building process and monitor the quality standards set out in the Stage D documentation.
