House in Highbury
Extension to a Victorian Terrace with a new kitchen and extended dining room; and balcony
Completed May 2008
Extending into the return between two adjoining terraces allowed for widening the existing kitchen, introducing a skylight and integrating a dining area. Provision of a built-in table under a new window allowed for a workspace for the children. With a view to creating a contemporary interpretation of a kitchen in a Victorian home, the choice of materials was pared down to slate flooring, white walls and furniture and granite worktops on the inside, and sand-coloured render and cementuous boards on the outside.
